Personal Trainer, Training in Old Street, Moorgate, Bishopsgate, Shoreditch & Liverpool Street
Ultimate Performance City of London:
Heralded on a very recent visit by Men's Health magazine as "the number one venue in London for functional fitness and real results" the newly opened Ultimate Performance Personal Training Gym is something that is unique in London and has in our opinion been missing for far too long from the European Fitness and Performance Training landscape.
There has never been a high quality gym that catered to the serious trainer, to the man or woman who wanted to get something a little extra from their gym sessions and who didn’t take a “little extra” to mean a bank of plasma screens in which to watch MTV whilst they spin their wheels not losing body fat on the exercise bikes.
We have created a gym environment and venue where any Olympic athlete could train, but we have designed it for so-called regular people as well as our clients who earn their living based on the way that they look or physically perform.
Why do we think we are so special? Lets look at the list of reasons:
We are a by appointment only, private gym so you are guaranteed privacy and never have to queue for equipment. Your workouts will never be compromised by hanging around waiting for others.
We are not a personal training studio. Yes, some of the better personal trainers have personal training studios but minimal equipment and restricted weights and space means that workouts can never be properly progressed and injuries are an absolute nightmare to work around.
We are not a hardcore gym, but we mean business. Everyone is welcome in our gym, we do not care about your ability. We only care about your attitude. If you are not serious about wanting to improve yourself there are plenty of Fitness Firsts and Virgin Actives where you would feel more comfortable.
We are a family. As sentimental as this may sound it is also very true. Our founder Nick Mitchell has created a nurturing environment where everyone pulls for the other. Given that we impose a limit on the number of personal trainers who are allowed to use our gym you quickly get to know all the faces and names and be inspired by the hard work and results of others.
We are the best equipped gym of our kind in the United Kingdom. No other private gym can offer the range and quality of equipment that our clients have at their disposal. For getting maximum results in minimum time we are probably the best equipped gym, both commercial and private, in London. This is a tough boast, especially when we also are an integral part of the London bodybuilding mecca that is Muscleworks, but what it is purely for beefing up, we are for cutting down, getting lean, quick, strong, and muscular. You can take your pick as to your goal and our equipment can be adapted to help you reach your goals, be they fat loss, building bigger muscles, or just getting super fit. Can we back up these extravagant claims? You can look at our testimonials for one thing, but let us list what our gym floor provides:
A 20 metre indoor Sprint Track ideal for every type of conditioning work.
Rope Climbing - our ceiling goes up over 20 feet in height so we just had to have a bit of fun with that!
Dumbells up to 70kg / 155lbs. Away from the word of hardcore bodybuilding this makes us the heaviest place in London. And if you get strong enough to need even more weight you have our cast iron assurance that we will go even heavier for you!
Dumbells as light as 1kg. Yes not to be outdone in the heavy stakes we also have not one but two sets of dumbells at the lighter end of the spectrum. Our system and philosophy is that we are open and welcoming of all, regardless of your strength and conditioning levels.
An interesting and eclectic range of ways to perform cardio and interval training - naturally we have a treadmill, a spinning bike, and a rowing machine / ergometer, but what stands us apart is that we have added to the mix a versa climber (too tough and demanding for most gyms, are you up to the challenge?), we have our own private ten flight stairwell and a weight vest that goes up to 90lbs (conjure up the fat loss that you achieve with that!). Lets also not forget that we also have the sprint track and as well as all the regular body weight work that can be done on this we have "fun" (in this context this word should be used advisedly) ways to drop fat and gain tone and muscle with the use of a super yoke, farmer's walk cylinders, and weighted sleds.
Atlantis Strength Training Equipment. Those of you not "in the know" might not be aware of this Canadian company and the unique scope and quality of the resistance training products they create. Needless to say we went to the trouble of importing some of their best items all the way from Canada:
Atlantis Glute Ham Raise
Atlantis Adjustable Step Up Platform
Atlantis Rubber Gripped Step Device
Atlantis Roman Chair Squat
Two Atlantis Power Racks
Atlantis Dipping Platform
Atlantis Standing Preacher Curl
More USEFUL machines than you can shake a stick at! Too many gyms waste your time with useless contraptions for "inner thighs" or the much loved (yet always dangerous) smith machine. In keeping with what you would expect of a gym designed by one of Europe's top personal trainers we have thrown much away and added the most effective devices on the market.
For leg training we have:
3 Power Racks
Cybex Leg Extension
Cybex Standing Leg Curl
Cybex Lying Leg Curl
Atlantis Glute Ham Raise
Cybex Leg Press
York Leg Press
York Hack Squat
Atlantis Roman Chair Squat
Cybex Standing Calf Raise
Cybex Seated Calf Raise
For upper body training we have:
Cybex Shoulder Press
2 Adjustable Pulley / Cable Crossover machines
4 Chin Up Bars, including one specifically designed as thick / fat grip.
Atlantis Dipping Bar
Flat Bench Press
Incline Bench Press
Decline Bench
7 adjustable decline / flat / incline benches
Cybex Low Pulley Machine
Cybex Pulldown
Cybex Tricep Pushdown
Cybex Adjustable Row
Cybex Flye Machine
Atlantis Standing Preacher Curl
An assortment of unique pieces such as the one handed Rolling Thunder deadlift device, a trap bar, various fat bars, rings (to make dips and chins that little bit harder), and the always challenging blast straps!
A host of photos and videos will be added very soon!

Additional London Personal Training Gyms:
We also currently operate the sole London personal training gym franchises for four other London establishments. This is a fairly unique situation as most personal training firms will restrict you into being locked into using just one establishment. Our reputation and ability to deliver results means that we are in the advantageous position of offering greater variety and convenience at no extra cost to you.
Located directly between Liverpool Street and Bethnal Green, the name Muscleworks is synonymous with just one thing - muscle. The most famous bodybuilding gym in the United Kingdom, it has nurtured talent right up to the upper echelons of professional bodybuilding. The roster of physique stars that have been “born” here reads like a who’s who of the British bodybuilding scene for the last 15 years. British champions (Amoury Francis, Ian Wadley, Brian Jansen, Sylvester Osbourne, Lenny St Cyr, Gilbert Alaskadi, JD Dawodu), Mr Olympia competitors and Mr Universe winners (Patrick Nichols, Brian Buchanan) and current British number one Troy Brown. On his 2007 visit to London, Muscleworks was the training base of Ronnie Coleman, the most successful competitive bodybuilder of all time.
This 7,500 square foot facility boasts a huge array the latest Hammer Strength and Cybex machines, as well of course as free weights that go right up to a pair of 180lb dumbbells.
We don’t expect our clients to hoist these dumbbells (at least not straight away!), but we do expect them to want to train hard and work for the best possible results in the shortest possible time. And it is for that reason that we have a long standing association with Muscleworks. It may not be as pretty or as refined as the chrome plated gyms of some of London’s health club franchises, but to compare the two is like comparing a mausoleum with a nightclub, or snooker with international rugby. Each has their fans, but only one has a vibrancy and uniquely vital energy and atmosphere.
